It is very rare and the chances are very slim but it does happen. In fact in one game Mario Lemieux scored 5 goals in all the ways possible

Powerplay
Even Strength
Shorthanded
Penalty Shot
Empty Net

He and Gretzky had a few 6 goal nights actually in their careers. It is rare and not something you should ever expect.

It's happened before. Sergei Federov scored all five of Detroit's goals against the Capitals (including the game winner in overtime).

With the amount of power play time it is very possible. Mario did it at the garden and I believe Granato score 5 once...

A single player doing it? Not really good. Not even done once a season.

That would be about 3 in 842,669. Let's see... Rocket Richard, Red Berenson, Darryl Sittler. All the other guys didn't do it, not even Bobby Hull. Well, Wayner did it I think. This off the top of my head. Now you've got me wondering.
