Well, that's somewhat unclear as it depends on how complex of a connection you have. For example, if you're connecting to say your work network using a secure vpn client, then it could possibly disconnect. But i'll assume that's not the case here. So for all other basic scenarios, the answer is No, it will not disconnect. If you are using an ethernet cable, as long as that cable is plugged in and your connection was set up properly previously, closing your laptop screen or even shutting down your laptop entirely will not disconnect your internet connection. That connection will remain. The same applies for a wireless situation. As long as it was initially enabled, it will remain as such until you disable it yourself.

Depends on what you have it set to do. If the computer stays running normally, then no. If it goes into standby, hibernate (default for many), or shutdown, then it will shut off your network connection. The reason here being that most close lid actions are done in order to save power - the laptop shuts off everything it can. Standby keeps your computer in the highest power mode.

Hi Crum, Are you talking about just shutting your laptop lid down,or closing it down to rest mode? If closing for rest mode,i think it does disconnect you. A Friend

It depends on what your power settings are set to...most computer laptops go to standby mode when the lid is closed...right click on the desktop and go to Properties--Screen Savers--Power --Advance and then click the check mark and set the configuratiion...

I think that would depend on how you have it set up in your preferences. Mine just hibernates when I close the lid... so I think it stays connected in that case.
