Racial double standard?

I would first like to say that I am neither black or white or Indian.

Why can black people say that they are better in basketball than white people and more athletic while white people cannot make any superior claims over black people w/o a uproar? Why can white comedians never say a joke about black people while black comedians have entire shows dedicated toward jokes on white people?

And lastly, where isn't there an uproar over medical school acceptance rates for East Indians? There only take 10% of the Indian applicants despite their kids being as a whole way more qualified than the other races? The same goes for getting accepted into several universities, why do they have to limit Indian students entries into college and medical schools? Indians must have through the roof grades, scores, and extracurricular activities to get into top colleges (higher than the average students). Please don't answer if you have no knowledge about this and think I am randomly making this up.

I am NOT white. And fine, but what if a Chinese person made jokes about blacks?? There would still be a lot of angry people.

Why is this a stupid question? So any question that deals with race is stupid? This society is so sensitive they hide from everything.

I know you are NOT making this up at all!!!

But what I notice is that you are concentrating so much in some aspects, and have not really feel or think that, double standars are every where!!!! With everyone!!! Sad to say.

Why???? You and otehrs may ask??? Well Is may humble opinion, that the reason for this is "CONVINIENCE"!!!!

If is convenient for and some one will look good, then is O.K. This is NOT fair, but then nothing is!!! Unless it is convenient for some one!!!

This issue is not about who makes more jokes or less. Or what percentage of people goes where!!! This issue is about "CONVENIENCE"!!!!

When the practice "equality of opportunity", started, also there was a change in legislation. Where if a company or institution, didn't practice "equality of opportunity", the were ponited out as being racists, and could be easily sued.

So they started bringing one or two of each different culture, just to show they are NOT racists!!! That happened every where from the store in the corner, shows on T.V. public and private offices, hospitals, post offices, to Capitol Hill!!!

And having thousands of the same and 10 % or less of another, did the trick!!! Are you with me???

If you haven't gotten in to a school of your choice...then ask them why not? Most schools use a quotas system...if 10% of the population is East Indian...then, 10% of the vacant slots for applicants would be filled with East Indians. Ask the school what their selection process is and if it is one of quotient, then investigate to see if it's accurately reflects the population. Most schools are very open about explaining their policies and procedures.

But please don't allow any quota to discourage you from your dreams or meeting your potential in life. Life does not give us a fair playing field. We have to work to create it. Sometimes that's an uphill battle. That's acutally the reason behind developing a quota system...the positions filled weren't accurately representing the diversity of population numbers. Usually it meant that White Males were getting most of the slots.

As for your addition, that Chinese don't make fun of Blacks...you are incorrect about that. Chinese comedians do make fun of Blacks, Whites, Latinos, other Asians, Middle Easterners...for the Chinese, they face discrimination in terms of not being taken seriously, seen as only clowns or servants. So they typically are "fwee" (free) to make fun of whomever. Some freedom, huh?

You must not watch BET . I do especially comic view and I have seen many comics of different races on the show.Yes even white ones and they too have made jokes about blacks. The difference is that the tell jokes without the intent to cause harm. The blacks in the audience have laughed at the jokes told by the white comedians as much as those told by blacks.

This is a very difficult question if it is thought through thoroughly and with an open mind. often times, people of all races want to think of themselves as superior for whatever reason (oppresion, hardships, etc.) but who is to say if it is right or wrong because all races have gone through their own problems. as for the indian applicants not being accepted into prestigious institutions, they are not the only ones. what about the other nationalities not being accepted into these institutions? what about Americans who do not have the money to attend these schools but have the same qualifications as the Indians? these type of questions will never have a right or wrong answer because the responses will always be opinionated.

The media controls what people think.
The statistics of 2005 shows there is far much more racism and racist hates crimes against whites.
