Air and sunlight. That's all you will ever need.

Anything else you try to put on driftwood to "preserve its appearance" will CHANGE its appearance.

Did you think of Thompains water seal ? It's the same stuff you use to preserve a porch deckand dries like you wet it down with water!

aside from spraying a flat enamel on it...nope.

Think about it...driftwood has floated on the ocean for who knows how long in who knows what kind of weather and you found it on a beach after its been sitting there for who knows how long....and you want to PRESERVE it?... From WHAT?

I imagine that you want to put it in your garden? Go to a hardware store and let them know what you have. What ever you use, you will probably have to get it there anyway. I recommend going to a smaller place where they have the time and expertise to talk to you rather than a huge mega store. Be descriptive (eg. you don't want that bleached dry look to disappear under a shiny coat.)
