the format may need to be converted to one (MP3?) that MP will recognize...the good news is that conversion software can be found for free.

The type of software you're looking for is called Freeware, which is fully-functioning and completely free software contributed to the public domain.

Shareware is offered as either "crippleware" (limited features), or a timed demo version, and each is designed to give you a taste before you buy.

Freeware on the other hand is completely free, with no catches, and fortunately for us is abundant on the web...here's a few of my favorite providers:

http://NoNags.com
*Open for a decade, and named for their screening of "nagware", which is freeware that constantly begs for donations, and quite annoying...All files are pre-scanned for viruses.

http://Download.com
*Around for over a decade now, and operated by a very reputable commercial publishing firm...They tend to push the more profitable shareware, so you'll have to search for "freeware"

http://tucows.tqci.net
* Two Cows has a solid reputation and a good selection, but again, it pushes shareware so add the term "freeware" to your site searches.

There's also:
http://freewarefiles.com

http://freewarehome.com

http://winfiles.com

http://winsite.com/free/

Employ the search feature if needed, but all the above categorize their offerings by genre, and I used each of them without major problems.

**Remember that it is still possible for a member to pull the "bait & switch" on these hosts (they submit a good program for consideration and inclusion, and once accepted they switch the zip file for one with a spam message of a virus...it happens.)
So keep your Norton up to date...or pickup a new Malware detector while you're there
