in the half blood prince, what cause the black things on prof. dumbledore's hand?

He was trying to access a ring that had been cursed to protect its contents. His hand was burned in that effort, and since it was a curse the burn is permanent.

The blackening and basic decay of Dumbledore's hand in HBP was caused by a curse placed on Salizar Slytherin's ring which Voldemort had used as a Horcrux. There seemed to be no counter curse or potion that could really undo the damage, and in many ways I think it showed that Dumbledore was heading toward death even before Snape hit him with the Killing Curse.

I think he was, for some reason, wearing the ring that was the hoarcrux. The ring was most likely cursed, and maybe then he couldn't get it off his hand. But he decided the most important thing was to destroy the hoarcrux, so he went ahead and destroyed the hoarcrux--even though he had to maim himself to do so. Just my personal theory.
