Every machine that is used in peace, is used in war.
Airplanes, zeppelins, ships, engines of all sorts and sizes, radios, stoves, shovels, bulldozers, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, parachutes, gliders...

Long before 'the machine age', they even had a 'machine crossbow', as well as catapults (still used in WWI, even!).
