The Superbowl is never played in hometowns because of the reason of the fans complaining. The Superbowl for years has been like that. it'd decided before the teams even win. and NFL thinks of it as if you love you're team so much you'll travel to see them which is true. because there are alot of people from out of town here. and since they couldn't afford tickets... they work the game.

1) The Super Bowl requires a great deal of preparation. The site must be determined long before the teams have any idea who will be going.

2) The Super Bowl is much more the a championship game. It is a full blown media event, complete with things that come out of the sky like jet fly overs and sky divers. They can not accomplish this at any of the cold weather forums, not even in a dome.

3) Since such importance is placed on the Super Bowl, it is necessary to hold it on a "neutral" playing field.

I have to say that playing it in a warmer place is easier to stay away from complaining, but i feel its better for the team with the better record to get it, because think of the incentives for the team to make money. In all other sports the further you go into the playoffs the more money you make, so playing it at the team with the best records house gives credit where it is due because extra revenue goes to the team. On the other hand it cant stay in one place beause thats too much revenue for one team, its the super bowl so tickets are expensive, and if you cared you would travel even if it was in Japan. for example look at soccer's world cup, ppl travel from all over the world

Because it would be favored conditions and higher chance for cheating. Also once upon a time when did host the games in the citys they were played there was a huge riot breakout or something along those lines.

If it was in Chicago, the Indy fans would complain about the "elements"...

If it was in Indy, the Bears fans would complain about the LACK of elements.

I like the idea of having it on a neutral field, myself.

who knew the stupid bears were gonna be in the super bowl ..
the nfl always pick a city that has nice weather..they even talked about having it permanently in san diego. which would be a great idea because the chargers will be in the super bowl next year.
