Let's be honest bub no white player so far is capable of averaging over 35ppg or even 30ppg like Kobe has. Nash could take 100 shots and not score 81 points. Nash is good but saying he magically made everyone better is denial. Even quarterbacks need Jerry Rice and Stockton had 0 rings. Oh but at least he got 3 steals a game which Nash gets .7? A 3 TIME MVP WITH .7 STEALS AND NO TRIPS TO THE FINALS????

Oh and the Lakers almost beat them last year and who saved the Day? Tim Thomas College Star? Oh but he was never talented? Nash just zapped him with a spell and made him a star?

Not only that but a big part of the Lakers doing better this year is the fact they have more shooters this year and not so much that Kobe is taking less shots as everyone says because I watch every game and he's really not taking too many less shots when he first came back he wasn't shooting at all because he was still injured for a month then sometimes he doesn't take too many shots but he still has like 3, 50 point games already and like 8 40 point ones. If you got rid of the beginging of the Season his average would be 30-31ppg.

It did happen in the past, genius.

In 1967 Rick Barry ( a "white" player) averaged 35.58 ppg.

He lost the MVP award to Wilt Chamberlain (a "black player"), who averaged 24.1 ppg, 24.2 rpg, and 7.8 apg. His 76ers also won the championship that year.

Rick Barry averaged over 30 points a few times. So has Jerry West. Larry Bird just missed it in 1988, averaging 29.9 ppg. None of these guys won the MVP in those years.

Check your facts before you go asking anymore ignorant questions.

Dont be silly. Of course they would. Plenty of players have averaged over 30 on teams where one person carries the scoring workload and they keep losing. MVP isn't just about scoring. On the whole it's about a combo of all round skills, winning and if you've won before recently. Remember when Barkley beat Jordan - that wasn' because Charles was playing better it was because the voters were sick of Jordan winning.

People dont like to vote for Kobe partly because he's seen as a selfish guy and isn't beloved by sportswriters due to his sour attittude. If the Lakers were the best team winning 70 games that would be different but if they are mid table then he's just another guy like Micheal Redd or Zach Randolph who scores a lot of points because his support cast doesn't score.

As for who will win this year - Nowitzki seems likely. Dallas has a great record in the tough West and he is the stand out guy in that winning franchise. That he's white wont matter.

Kudos my friend. I agree 100% because look at David Stern, he hates hip-hop styles, gangster apparel, and the extras that NBA players wear. Clearly if Luke Walton averaged the 34.5ppg he would have won MVP, but NOOOOOOOO not Kobe, because Kobe isn't deserving, because Kobe has Luke Walton who's as good as Shawn Marion, or Kwame Brown who's as good as Amare, and of course Smush Parker the NBDL diamond in the rough...I was shocked because Nash never scored and never will score 81. But think of this for Nash to equal that amt he would need 40pts and 20assists(2pt/assist) to equal Kobe's 81, but why does Nash get it because he's humble, and he represents what the NBA wants to be, look at Melo now he leads the league in points but he wasnt picked for the All-Star game, so I say YES if Kobe was white he would win MVP, and David Stern is a PUNK @@@@@. hey CHilly B you said being white shouldn't make a difference because NAsh sucks and he's white but he wins it, I think thats what the asker meant, that Nash didnt deserve it as much but still got it because of his colour, but good job contradicting yourself and proving his point!!! BY THE WAY everyone that says the MVP isn't about scoring, you are right, its about being the most valuable asset to your team relative to the rest of the players, so tell me without Kobe what do you think the Lakers would have been 10-72 maybe, the fact that he took that team to the playoffs and stretched the Suns to 7 games without really good guys around him was enough reason for him to win, maybe he should get it this yr because pts are down but everything else is up and the team is getting better RIGHT??? WRONG Nash will get it again.

the player's race has nothing to do with it. nash was a deserving winner and if it was in my control, he'd win again this year. as said earlier, the mvp has nothing to do with the player who scores the most points. nash singlehandedly made the suns a playoff team with amare out for virtually the whole year. every single player on that team had a career year because of him. that's the sign of an mvp, someone who makes his teammates that much better. the kobe of this year is more deserving of the mvp than the kobe of last year because he has become a better team player.

mvp isnt just about points. a lot of people here have made that clear already so no need for me to go into that. but as far as you saying no white player is capable of scoring even 30 pts per game is a bit of a stretch. are we forgetting that dirk nowitzki is white???? this season he is averaging 25 so far. dirk is very close and keeps getting closer to averaging 30 per game after every season because the man gets better every year. never say never i say...

No I don't think so, black or white 35.4 points is good, that's why I don't see all the hype for the black coaches yes it is amazing, but if it were 2 white coaches nothing would happen, it leads alway back to the racial days. And yes I am black
