Is there a way to set up your computer to automatically turn it on at a certain time in the day? Thank you for your help. What I'm looking for is a setting that will turn my computer on at like 8:00 am, that way I dont have to wait for all the auto run stuff on my computer...BTW is there a way to add/delete items from that auto run? I would like to set up a audio file to automatically run when my computer starts up to say - Hello Tyler....lol...and maybe adding an internet site that has the local weather and stuff like that....well thank you for all your help

Best thing for auto run is just to browse in windows xp to your C:\Documents and Settings\usernamehere\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Place anything you want to auto run on your login/startup into that folder. It can be a link to a website a song etc. any programs whatever you want just make shortcuts to the items you want. I would not put the actual files there, just use shortcuts. Then you can also right click on them and select if you want the song to run minimized or whatever too.

As for the other one, that would have to be supported by your motherboard. Windows can not automatically turn on a computer at a certain time. Only your motherboard, should it support this (which is likely rare) would be able to do that.

eliminate any floppies interior thechronic, CD-ROMS/DVDs, USB thumb drives or exterior not ordinary drives, and examine out it back. If that would not sparkling up it, get the precise mistakes on the reveal and put in an a info on your question with the intention to assist you larger. EDIT: My undesirable, i did not understand that it wasn't booting in any respect. when I pronounced HAL i idea Hardware Abstraction Layer, no longer that you had named your computing gadget HAL (undesirable karma there, except you want your computing gadget to bypass insane). Do any lights fixtures come on in any respect once you hit the means button and in case you pay interest heavily, do the interior followers spin up? you ought to hear a tender buzzing sound in the adventure that they do. If no longer, if in case you've a lifeless means provide. Geek Squad can replace that for you when you're literally not as a lot as doing it your self. If it does means up for a second and then is going lifeless it ought to easily be the CPU fan. maximum cutting-edge computing gadget's have a sensor which will right now close down means to the motherboard if the CPU fan isn't operating to circumvent you from frying it by overheating. Edit 2: Christopher, it appears like the means provide is lifeless and could favor to get replaced. One very last suggestion, to easily remember to do not waste funds, try transferring the means cord from the UPS, means strip, surge protector, or inspite of you're using now and plug it right away into the wall in an outlet that you've shown has means (is the visual reveal unit plugged into an identical strip because the computing gadget, if so, you could overlook about this) and examine out it once extra. i ought to hate to work out you're taking it to a shop even as it change into only a nasty means source like a fuse blown surge protector.

Your computer loads up much more than what the previous user stated at blabla/blabla/startup.

But what can help is:
Start > Run > MSCONFIG
But warning: You can mess with your system's default operations.

As for how to automatically turn your PC on, I'm not sure.

not sure about most of that stuff but deleting stuff from auto run go to start menu run type in msconfig and go to startup, if it takes to long for you to startup then disable some of the crap you have at startup most of it doesn't even need to run right away.

Your local hardware store should have electrical timers that turn appliances on/off at given times... Like the ones people use to make people think they are home when they are on vacation.
