By now, unfortunately, these home remedies may not help you get rid of the UTI (urinary tract infection) since you started having symptoms yesterday morning. For quick relief before you can get to a doctor, go to a 24-hour Walgreens or any pharmacy at this time of the night and get an over-the-counter medicine like "Azo Standard Urinary Pain Relief, 95 mg, Tablets" (blue box with big black letters of AZO), which contains the active ingredient of Phenazopyridine Hydrochloride, a pain reducer specific for UTI suffers (you might want to call ahead to make sure the pharmacy you want to go to has something like this). Take according to the instructions, drink plenty of water and keep urinating often. AZO will turn your urine orange-ish brown but don't worry, it is normal and fine. (This is the same pain med the doctor used to prescribe to UTI sufferers, but now it is available as OTC medicine).

If there are any urgent care clinic open at this hour, I highly recommend you go there and get treated as soon as you can (especially if you have noticed any traces of blood in your urine before you started taking AZO--this means the infection has gone up into your bladder). Do NOT just take the AZO and forget about it (the pain may go away and you might think you are fine...but AZO only removes the pain, NOT the bacterial infection that is still growing). UTIs can lead to bladder infections, and then very serious kidney infections that can cause kidney damage. The doctor will ask you to give an urine sample so they can do a rapid UTI test (and will further culture the sample to verify the microbe(s) responsible for your symptoms) and prescribe the antibiotics you need to clear up the infection. Take them ASAP and you will feel better very quickly. As with taking all antibiotics, be sure to take them on-time and finish them to complete the full-course of treatment.

I hope you can get the treatment you need very soon! Take care.

Cranberry juice is a great idea for a home remedy, but you do need to drink quite a bit. Make sure you get to the doctor on moday if you aren't feeling better and if you symptoms get worse before then, don't hesitate to go to the emergency room. A UTI is nothing to mess with. It can easily spread and make you very sick. Good luck, and hope you feel better!

I took acidophilus every day
bought a huge thing (half gallon?)of cranberry juice and drank it in one day, and another bottle next day.
in addition bought the cranberry capsules and took those too.
beacuse I didnt have $$ to go to the DR. and it got rid of it. but these are nothing to fool around with if you can get to the DR, do so, and if youre possibly pregnant, let him know too.
I would also drink water. the cranberry basically neutralizes the bacteria and the acidophilus promotes healthy bacteria adn [prevents these kinds of things....

Pyruvate or a similar over the counter bladder remedy...ONLY for the burning to subside! Go to urgent care and get on antibiotics in the AM!
