What are you talking about? I've been to a lot of rural place (That was my job for some good deal of time) But never saw such an activity about women being beaten up by the husband. Although I've seen few such activities in the cities, though very less.
That thing that you are talking about is mere picture of a few cases of husbands torturing ther wives. But a general scenario is quite peaceful.
While talking about the rural areas let me tell you one more fact that women do earn over there. They work hand in hand with their husbands on the fields. Or if their husbands move to some town to earn, these ladies single handedly manage their fields. Isn't that kind of being independent?
And if you are talking about slum areas, then I may agree that the percentage of women being beaten up by their husbands is a bit higher. but the women in these areas too are sort of independat. They work as maids, or anything like that to earn their living. The other fact with the slum areas is that the people in those areas are from some other place faraway. The men take advantage of this as they know that there's no one who could come in to rescue their wives. If only we could communicate with those people and make them aware of the law, we could reduce the percentage of such attrocities.
:-)

I'm not beaten by my husband. You know why I am submissive to my husband? Because it makes me feel good, makes him feel appreciated, and it's my role, I'm his "helper." It's from the Bible if you're familiar with that.
There's a huge difference being submissive and being a doormat. I'm not a slave or a servant to him. I do things for him and our home because I'm selfless and want to make life easier for him. I just have a kind heart and know my place in life. I'm not standing around in the kitchen barefoot and pregnant, I do have a career, but my husband and our home come before anything.
So before you Feminazi's go off and blast us conservative women, think about the things that you could be doing for your husband and your home. It's not being a slave, it's about putting someone else first. I would love to get started on the Feminazi's, but am too tired of explaining it!

Thats a question which is sadly relavent. Women should understand their worth and become financially independent before they can successfully tackle this kind of domestic problems.
