I know I have the perfect commercial for Cheverolet but I have found it very difficult to present it to them. I don't want to just send it in because chances are someone might steal the idea. I have enough confidence in my idea to fly across the country at my own expense as long as I know someone there would hear my idea.
Any suggestions?

I have had the same question.
Unfortunately, I cannot give you advice from my own experience, as I have not acted on it. But having talked with a friend at a Publicity Agency (in charge of American Express' Blue campaign), I think you should start finding out which agency is currently taking care of GM / Chevrolet advertisment campaign.
This the more true, since this type of contracts do not only take care of TV ads, but frequently it involves general image and communication as well. Since these agencies are responsible of defining and penetrating with a particular image, you may prefer to deal with them. This agencies have a "Creative Department" which are responsible of "coming up" with new ideas... perhaps their next one is yours !!
Good Luck, and write somewhere letting us know which ad was your idea.

The best way would be to contact the marketing department for the Chevrolet Division of General Motors. This is probably a difficult function as it is a very large Division and is constantly bombarded by people who think they have the "perfect" commercial. Hopefully they will tell you whether your idea has merit.
