It is always such right wing views compared to us Brits such as:

Marriage before sex
God stuff
Anti abortion
Anti claiming any benefits even for things us uk take for granted like child benefit or our state pension
Really small minded comments

I was shocked when I went to the states at how black and espainic people seems to work in the hotel carrying cases and chamber duties and white people were front of house.

If you are poor in America you do not get to go through university for free like you do in the UK

I have a sister in law from usa who would never go back

What is so great about a country without free health care, free higher education and only a small part of it's population have even left the county?

Not the whole country is like that. In my views, your rationalizing is really small minded because you summed up millions of people by calling us all Democrats. Right now yes, those are the issues making the media because the Democrats are ruling the house as it is. In the UK you aren't getting what states are doing, voting on and arguing. All you get is what the media shows, and I'm sorry but I don't trust the media. No, we do not go through school free if we are poor. Yes I think it is a bit screwed up because it creates even more of a gap between the upper educated and the ones that didn't go past highschool. Good for your sister in law, I like America and I don't want to live in another country. That is a personal choice that each makes on their own. I love this country, I can't explain it but I will defend my land to a point when it is bad mouthed. All of the points you mentioned as to why America isn't a good country I can argue that you are choosing to view them that way. I will give you my views on the points you brought up:

Marriage before sex: I'm not even going to try ... but let people do as they want. I'm sure many thousands of people in the UK want to try for that too to start off a marriage with a clean slate.

God "stuff": Okay ... so the media has a foot in the door ... like I said before, the media is screwy and biast. Don't listen to them.

Prolife: Not the whole country. I am prolife with exceptions to some cases like rape, death if carry, or any medical reason that supports an abortion.

Benefits: So we don't have payments set up ... not your problem ...

Pension: One of the topics that the government is looking into right now. I'm leaving that one alone, too much hipe on both sides behind it to even get into.

Really closed minded comments: Note all of your reasons as to why the UK is better. We are ALL people, one country is not better than another, one race is not better than another.

Seeing more blacks and mexicans work in the dirtier jobs goes back to poverty related to education. A lot of it is that people migrate in and will work the jobs we wont, we need them quite frankly.

I've supported my country after you have verbally spat upon us. Thank you for bringing out some sense to nations that are different yet still have some similarities- the people in them. I'm not saying that we don't have problems, but what country doesn't?

Pichi has a point about distance traveled. A lot of people can't afford ot leave the country but cover so much more ground in one nation because we are bigger. Sure you go to more places, traveling isn't all about where you go outside of a country.

Oh, and I can explain why you still get American answers like mine: You click on UK questions, nothing stops Americans from answering UK questions just as you are not prohibited from answering outside of UK asked questions. That is the beauty of the internet.

No one is better ... coming from an American ...

I understand what you're saying the American boards can be shocking compared to the British but even just using the media view of the US there are a lot of positive things there that Brits seem to miss. I am a Brit by the way.

I think the way teenagers are treated in the US is great compared to Britain. They are expected to have more responsibility and there is so much more for them to do. In Britain they are treated as a nuisance.

Childcare provision in the US seems decades ahead of the UKs which I think is fantastic.

Attitudes towards alcohol are far healthier with the legal drinking age far higher.

I know that these views are taken solely from the media but my point is that even from these sources there are lots of ways the US is years ahead of us and yet they are selective missed by most of the British public.

I have a severe hatred of the new national hobby that is America bashing. Yes America is screwed up in a lot of ways but guess what? So is the UK. We can do something about our "own" screwed-upness but people are far happier to sit round and feel superior about America instead.

First, clickling on UK only, means you only see UK questions, but it doesn't keep anyone who does "all english" from seeing all and answering, where ever they are from.

Second, one of the reasons a small percentage of americans have been out of their country as compared to say, people in U.K. or Europe, is that it is a very very large country ... all of the U.K. is smaller than just one of some of our mid-sized states. Therefore, while an American might actually have traveled more miles in their lifetime than someone in the U.K., they might not have left the country, or the continent. The same goes for Canada, actually.

I agree that the U.S. has LOTS of problems. And right now, there doesn't seem to be a lot of going in the right direction as far as fixing those problems.

However, the rest of the world seems to take pride at picking on the Americans, and we didn't choose where we were born any more than you did! (by the way, I don't live in the U.S. anymore either, by choice ... but I probably will go back at some time to live closer to my grandchildren) All countries have problems, and you wouldn't want to be generalised by a TV perception of brits any more than we like it.

I click on All Categories so I go places, literally speaking...haha.
I find it better to go international in Yahoo Answers. :)

There would always be (even if one does not believe it) racial issues in the world even if we do not ''see'' nor ''hear'' it.
The USA is a great country but you are right in saying how non-caucasians ''tend'' to be in lower occupations. I guess it is the Caucasians' country after all.......but wait, doesn't America belong to the Red Indians?? (Native Americans) ...their homeland.

Americans are made up of so many races........they are American Irish (Ireland origin), German (Germany origin), Italian (Italy origin) and so on and so forth and they are the ''whites'' while the American Blacks (Africa), Hispanic (Mexico and Latin America) are so not white....think again.......

Who claims to be an original American? I can safely say it is the Native Americans who are so ''wiped aside'' by the Whites? (do not blame me for saying that because I watch the news).

I have always loved the USA since the first time I learned Geography and watched Walt Disney Productions......... and I still do, really, I do.
However, having lived in the UK for several years, I can only think of England with USA still on my mind :)

No, country actually has free health care. The reason that other countries throughout the world have free health care, is because their taxes are higher.

Btw you should really learn how to speak properly, because I couldn't understand half of what you said.
