I remember when he played with Buffalo and, yes, he was one of my favorite football players growing up.I also loved the Hertz commercials he did. However, the mess he made of himself the past few years totally ruined his legacy.

Orenthal James Simpson was a great athlete from the time he was a small child. As # 32 - tailback for USC he was incredible and received the coveted Heisman Trophy for his accomplishments. He was the first player to run the ball for over 2,000 yards in a season. At that time, with fewer games than today and tackles that were legal then but have since been outlawed due to injury causing potential. But forget that! He was pre-steroid era! The Juice wasn't juiced. When he ran for over 2,000 yards in a season, he went into the last game needing 250 yards. Nobody gave him a chance. He ran for 256 yards. That's like having to hit 4 homeruns in your last game to get 60. He was the consumate athlete. However the evidence stacked up in court; the evidence on the field indicates that he was one of the greatest athletes of all time. Like Pete Rose; however history looks at him as a person is one thing, but as a football player - he was incredible - and that was the question. Oh by the way, did I mention that he played on teams were not known for their offencive lines or passing game? All they had to do was stop him - and they couldn't do it.

Whats funny is how he never ran a sub 4.5 in any tryout or combine yet, neighbors say when he was running away after killing his wife and her boytoy, he busted a 3.7. Thats a fast guy.

He could sure carve up a defense. I guess it was good practice for what was to come later in life.
