And thousands of tons of loose ordinance still out there?

We don't even speak the language. And Bush dared them to "bring it on". Well......this is just the beginning.

Heck, we were in for more than we bargained for long ago. Not speaking the language is just a drop in our "over our heads" bucket (especially with the amusing fact that several military personell who *could* speak fluent Farsi were kicked out for being homosexuals--how comforting to know where our priorities lie!) I keep thinking of an old cowboy saying--if you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is STOP DIGGING. Our current administration just keeps digging, doesn't it?

I wish I were surprised. I wish that it wasn't going to get much worse before someone finally puts a stop to this obscenity. More than anything, I wished for some miracle that would make Bush's "new" plan actually work. The next time he makes a speech in which he "admits" to mistakes perhaps he'll actually take personal responsibility for those mistakes. After all, he can't say he didn't have alternative suggestions or solutions offered to him anymore can he? Or does Bush simply ignoring them make them disappear as though they never existed?

Those of you who stand with Bush can call me any "liberal" name you like, but every night I pray for our soldiers and every day I look at my 17 year old stepson and wonder if he will be in the Middle East eating sand in two years. We'll be proud of him no matter where he serves or who he serves under, but it would be at least a small comfort to know he is really fighting terrorism and not being a glorified policeman in the middle of another country's civil war.

The only thing that is going to "work" in Iraq is some sort of dialog. We must reach the leaders of the various factions and get them to call a halt to this type of terrorism against their own people. (Maybe we can get them to say that suicide bombers go straight to hell and rather than virgins they'll receive old, American prostitutes...)

Mr. Bring it On must have been a wimp on the playground, and is now trying to sound like a big shot. It's easy to call someone's bluff if you have others do your fighting for you.

Where is our empathy for the people of Iraq? I keep hearing on Answers that we're "getting 'them' back for 9/11" (which isn't true, by the way...), but the people of Iraq live (and die) with terrorism everyday, and our presence there is making it worse. Don't we care about their lives?

I think we are definitely in for more than we bargained.
It's not just Sunni vs. Shiite anymore kids, now we have the added dimension of Arab vs. Persian split along tribal lines, with Sunni and Shiite banding together based on family ties to fight the U.S. and the Bagdad regime.
The troubles in the Sunni Triangle are about to spread South......

I'll bet that market bomb was planted by either American or Israeli forces. British, American and Israeli forces have been caught at various times throughout the duration of this "war" planting bombs and committing terrorist acts in an effort to keep the "war" going and the profits flowing to the war profiteers..

We need not triple our soldiers, if you read my question : http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjLt9J6ShV_e6ZQeYufPJCLsy6IX?qid=20070203092209AADLxjv
the thing you need is to organize the Iraq government's structure to limit insurgent!
Think this way, if the terrorist have those stuff and they didn't use it on Iraq, who do you think they save it for?

I don't think any body's pretending that this will be easy. Were we to pull out now, the carnage would be many times worse.
