realism- Idea of everything being realistic...how stuff "is" not how stuff should be. It's like "men do what it is in their best interest".

idealism- fancy pants way of always longing for how things should be. Setting goals like "peace and unity" where everyone can be equal...etc

Marxism- all about communal stuff rather than individuality. It was basically trying to explain history through science. He started out saying that there is one event that causes an opposite event (thesis and antithesis respectively)
for example, during feudalism lords want to trade (THESIS) As a result, the bourgeois are created (ANTITHESIS)

Well, I will give you my general opinion.

Realism: the conception That objects of sense perception or cognition exist independently of the mind.*
It is the belief that objects of perception have neither a universal mind or spirit and do not rely on another person to believe in it. It basically out rules the supernatural.

Idealism: a theory that ultimate reality lies in a realm transcending phenomena.*
Idealism states that things can lie outside the dependence of the mind, so even if one does not think about a subject, it can still exist; it states that things outside the realms of our current knowledge can exist. It basically counters realism.

Marxism: A theory and practice of socialism including the labor of value, dialectical materialism, the class struggle, and the dictatorship of the proletarian until the establishment of a classless society.*
In other words, Marxism in a theory of socialism developed by Karl Marx that states that we should abolish money and trade, and property will be owned by the people, and each person will be rationed an equal share of what is needed there would be neither wealthy nor poor classes. This would come about by the overseeing of a dictator, who would hand power over to the people once the economy is in this state. However, this transition from dictatorship to free government has never successfully happened, rendering Marxism a theory...

...and that is my spiel. I hope it was helpful in some way^.^

I am from Nepal and I am a student of literature and political science. These three have different meanings in literature and political science. If you see the history on evolution of society, idealism comes first and then marxiam and realism gradually. I think realism is the result of marxism. Marxism says that prolatarian class and it's struggle is a bitter reality. If someone supresses you, you'll react. So idealism is no more scientific in nowadays world. Idealism does not inspire you to do something new but it use to be traditional all time. To know more about realism of our time, you've to consult surrialism and post-modernism too. If you look into post-modernism, there are two sides, one is supporting marxiam and another one is anti-marxist. I think todays world is divided into two different philosophy. We can catagorize them as marxism and anti-marxism. So idealism is against marxiam and realism is in favour of it. But on the other hand, surrealistics use to be neither in favour of marxiam nor against it. These make idealism, marxiam and realism different.
