It's not "low", it simply has less noisy "high" overtones...and you end up hearing more of your plucking the string (which is noisy) and less of the actual tones/notes.
An electric guitar is noisy do to simpler string and guitar body design that does not promote smooth resonance or decently loud volume level without amplification.
. Also the overtones sound weak and lack resonance since electric guitars do not have hollow bodies to promote resonance (they use the amplifier to do this instead).
A Les Paul-style electric guitar will sound better than a Fender-type because it has a partly hollow-body design and thicker strings so it can keep resonance and clarity without an amp better.
There are some amplifiers and effects pedals built to add the "body/resonant" sound I described above to electric guitars (reverb/chorus is just one of them)...if you are itching to play your electric guitar acoustically I'd suggest buying one and getting thicker strings.

Well on most solid bodies it sounds dull. On a hollow body or semi hollow body, if its a decent guitar it will sound vibrant but not really loud.

Not electric
sort of a crappy rendition of a palm muted acoustic without any soul or feeling (except on the higher notes)

It sounds like a very old out of tune accoustic that is very dull and the notes aren't clear and makes it sound like crap.

Like crap. No really..... it has no resonance. It has no volume. It's like having sex with a log(so I've heard). ;)
