Yep, when the show first came out. We love SpongeBob and the gang. The name Bikini Bottom is just meant to be funny like the rest of the show. Don't diss SpongeBob's town. :)

sure, i thought about it the first time i heard it. of course, there is a group of islands in the pacific ocean called the bikini atoll, and that's how the spongebob artist came up with the idea. i guess they live on the bottom, on the sea floor, of course, near bikini atoll. and the swimsuit was named after the islands, not the other way around.
