I rarely if ever notice it, even though I go barefoot full-time. People stare a lot but most of it seems to be just curiosity. Or at least that's the only thing they ever express (aren't your feet cold, isn't that uncomfortable?). Maybe it's that I go barefoot only for comfort and have absolutely not the least bit sexual interest that I just don't even think about that being a factor, but in ten years of fulltime barefooting only twice have guys expressed an interest. It could also be foot fetishes just aren't as common around here -there's very little anti-barefoot bias in my country. Even though there are no real laws against public barefooting in the US (see source), many people think there are, possibly making bare feet more attractive to some... forbidden fruits and all that.
I'd like it best if no one stared at me, if barefooting were just accepted as another footwear choice, like platforms, or heels, or anything else. But it doesn't really embarras me when people stare, as long as it is so rare people will stare, that's just a fact and most I usually think about it is oh well.

i don't take my shoes off around strangers anymore...
had a friend of the family who confessed later to have a foot fetish...
this is in all seriousness...
the dude is old enough to be my grandfather...
it really freaked me out...
you sound like you have a foot fetish, seeing as how you geared this toward ladies only...
yes, i do get embarrassed when strangers stare at my feet now.

I wear nothing but sneakers and boots. So I don't have to worry about someone staring at my feet. But if I wasn't wearing sneakers and someone was staring at my feet I wouldn't like it. I don't think I would call it embarrassment though.
