I read this last week in Heloise. My dog's sweaters have arm holes on the chest about 6 inches from the neck. How wide they are depends on the size of the dog. Walmart has $5 sweateers. My dog is a pointer and she wears an 18 or a 20. The 20 fits better. Go look at their sweaters and use your sewing skills to adapt what you see. Our holes are about 4 inches long...diameter. But my dog weighs 50 lbs. You need to tell us what kind of dog it is...someone may have directions.

If you go to a fabric store you will be able to find LOADS of patterns for dog clothes, dog beds, dog toys, etc. They will be in the pattern books (Simplicity is my favorite, but there's also McCalls, Butterick, Vogue, etc.) - look under accessories or housewares if there isn't a pet section.

Good luck!

PS - Pretty much every week one brand of patterns is on sale 50% off or more, or even 10 for $10 or 5 for $10 - if you can wait, you might want to watch the ads before shopping!
