I am going to be getting a VW Golf GTI MKV soon but I do not know how to drive manual. Is there a place where I can pay to take maybe a course or get instruction on how to drive a manual car? Thanks, I'm in the NYC area.

just buy it, once you realize that you have to learn, you'll learn. there's no such thing as someone that can't learn, i promise. the only thing that you're going to have trouble with AT ALL is taking off...the way to learn how to do this is to engage in the most extreme of outcomes...you're definitely going to stall it and that happens because you let off the clutch too much before you were applying the right amount of throttle in time...the other extreme is that you'll give too much throttle before letting of clutch too much so when you do, you'll spin you're tires (try not to get to use to that, if you're golf is a turbo, you'll really light em up)...i bought my first 5 speed and atleast felt like i was a pro after about a week so i'm sure you'll be fine, just get it and learn. my mom works at the dmv, they definitely don't teach you how to drive a manual and they probably wouldn't go in the car with you once they found out that you didn't know. there probably is a driving school but i'd rather pay me for my information than someone that's not going to do anything better than this...it's really trial and error...you'll learn what giving too much gas does and vice-versa so you'll be fine. enjoy

Talking to someone personally. The best way to get taught is to learn from someone else. There aren't any schools that teach that stuff. I am a girl, and learned from my fiance in a mazda protege 5. I later bought a manual pickup. He taught me and it took about 3 days actually. Each vehicle is also different. Good luck!
