I have been designing jewelry for years, and have been forever frustrated with deciding upon WHERE to offer my jewelry for sale. If anyone has some advice or experience, I would be SO appreciative! Thanks!

You should get into some high end art shows. Order a subscription to Sunshine Artists Magazine.... it will give you a listing of all art shows in the country (with ratings). This will provide you a way to get exposure in many different areas without costing you a lot of money (galleries will charge you 50-60%). There are quite a few shows that feature high end jewelry. We made a name for ourselves through the art shows (different kind of art) and have seen jewelry designers do so as well. Further, we have purchased some nice (and expensive) jewelry from the shows ourselves.
Good luck
P.S. You will be surprised how many clients become repeat buyers.

There are several outlets for selling jewelry to retail customers.

You can sell your pieces to boutiques and other retail stores. Many of them nowadays will take pieces on consignment though, so oftentimes you won't get paid right away.

If you have many pieces available to sell, you can host jewelry selling parties and invite friends of friends, co-workers of friends, etc. It's a very mutually rewarding way to do business- your customers will get to know how you made the piece, and you will make a good bit of money from it.

There are also places to sell online, but it is becoming increasingly difficult drive traffic and ensure that the right online customers will find you. It is certainly possible, but it will take a good bit of research to accomplish. eBay is always a good place to start since they have so many buyers and can drive a lot of traffic your way.

No matter what, be sure your that presentation is excellent. That is what matters most in selling jewelry. If selling the pieces at a physical location, be sure the lighting and packaging are top notch and make the pieces look extremely attractive. Likewise, if selling online, be sure you have beautiful pictures to show of your merchandise. It will take a lot of hard work to perfect either, but the professionalism and beauty of the presentation are almost as important as the beauty of the pieces themselves, so the investment in your time in this aspect of the selling process is well worth it.

Good luck with your endeavor!

I am a jewelry dealer from Bangkok, Thailand. I need to fine someone who might want to do home base business without financial back up. All you need is a website that you can post my items for sales. You do the selling, receiving the money. I do the shipping – drop ship. If you are interested in working together, send me a note. I have PayPal account for this business.

Speaking from my own personal feelings about buying jewelry, I much prefer to buy pieces in person. Jewelry tends to be a very personal item to purchase, so I prefer to see and touch the piece and perhaps try it on before deciding to purchase it. This is true for certain types of pieces more so than others. For example, I'd never buy a ring without being able to try it on in person. But, I might be willing to buy earrings or a bracelet or a pendant without seeing it in person. To this end, for consumers who feel similarly, buying online might not be their first choice.

I think where you sell your jewelry depends on a lot of things - what style/quality your pieces are, what price point you're aimed at and who your target audience is with regards to age, gender, if there's a particular ethnic group more likely to buy your pieces, etc. This will help you determine the best avenues to reach your audience as once you know the "who", you can figure out the "where" buy determining where that audience typically shops for their jewelry - the mall? high-end jewelry stores? flea markets? online? trade shows? local events?

The best way to be successful in selling something is to figure out what the customer wants and give it to them and sales is helping them to see how they can get what they want by purchasing your products or services.

Good luck!

I would look for companies who sell "like" products, or airline shops, or hotel shops. I would then do an online store, that does not have a price list or check out, and then email all of these stores the offer to buy wholesale.

Good Luck
