Is it the thermostat or is it something else. Thank you for your time.

Unfortunately, it could be a million things. Is it a heat pump, gas furnace, oil furnace, boiler, electric heat? I doubt it is the stat the clicking noise should be the call for heat so I would think that is working. Need more info.

If its Gas it might be that the pilot light blew out, check it
If its Propane it just might have run out of propane
If its Oil it might have just run of oil (although Oil also has an electric switch so call a heating professional)
If none of the easy fixes work, then you should call a heating professional.

This could very well be the thermostat.There are tons of other things it could be also.If it uses gas then check the pilot light
