I have a profound interest in Computer Networking and despite of having an Associates degree along with CCNA I couldn’t land into an entry level job in IT, I however thinking of making a change by going forward for Bachelors and Higher Certs like CCNP, MCSE or MCDBA and I want a mentor to guide me that a combination of Graduate degree along with Techinical Vendor certifications would be sufficient to get absorbed somewhere in IT arena. I am thinking of doing BSC in IT, please tell me if it’s a step towards right direction? Does that matter from what Univ you graduate from since the curicullam is universal when it comes to computers, but still I would like to know if I institution is better than another in terms of lab equipment, faculty and recognition

For Networking, forget the MCSE and whatever that other "M" one is. Working toward the CCNP will help. Also look at certs from Juniper. Study Computer Science, but the best way is experience. Consider school districts, community colleges, & smaller companies for entry level networking jobs. The school doesn't matter so much. Your school won't count until you move into management and by then all that matters is that you have a degree.

Oh also, if there is a military base in your town, apply for an entry level job with the contractor that takes care of the network. That's how I got my start. They have all of the toys to learn on.

If you are really interested, you can find work. The CCNA / MCSE etc are rarely wanted by the employers. You may find it better to do practical work, may be with Internet Service Providers or Cyber Cafes or whatever. After getting a foothold in the industry and earning some money, you can decide if to get certification.
