Hi..I bought a laptop from a tech school and they are the administrator...I only can be logged in as a student and they block certain websites! I changed the admin password before and changed it so I was a admin. as well but forgot what the password was and made a mistake so the student account isnt the admin. anymore...is there any way to recover the admin. password without paying anything? there is also a content advisor password that blocks certain sites...is there anyway to retrieve that password as well?

So about the safe mode...I did that and it was saying [password] and options and alot of other stuff...was I supposed to write that down? Does it give you back the old password or no? o...about the laptop..i go to a college which it is a requirment to have a laptop..the thing is that the school is the administrator and they also have a content advisor that blocks certain sites...that also is password protected...some sites like myspace.com or blackplanet.com or even the simplest site howthingswork.com are blocked. Could i also obtain the password for the content advisor? I tried all that ISO image crap but it doesnt work...does that windows 2000 recovery thing still work?

there are password programs you can do a search for that are free to download onto a floppy. do a search on google for " find admin password finder. also these password would be save in a file with the extension ".PWL" you can also find a program that reads these files.

TRY this from Yahoo Answers

As you're starting it up, press F8 until you get the boot options menu. Select "Safe Mode With Command Prompt" if on windows XP:

once the command prompt comes up, type "net user administrator /random" and WRITE DOWN THE PASSWORD it gives you as it has been changed to that.

Keep a copy in future !

Ok, have you seen The Big Bang Theory? Penny gets to use the WiFi in the apartment across the hall. The lesson is, if you're of the attractive to them, turn up the flirt, and just ask. Or offer a few dollars, otherwise. Most people are nicer than you think, and would probably say don't worry about it, here's the password. I would for my neighbors, if they asked.

If you purchased the laptop it would seem to me that you are entitled to the password -- else, what good is it?
