i was wondering if their is a fear from the general population that if a black person is given the presidency, that would promote negative character from black people and from other people of color, due to the past treatment of people of color.

Sorry, did you mean to say "negative character from black people"?
I don't really know what you mean by that, because to me that would mean that somehow black people would treat white people worse if a black person were president. Is this what you meant?

If so, no, I don't think that would happen. Having a person in one office does not mean that our whole society would have suddenly flipped and black people would be on top of the social hierarchy in all situations. And I would think that many black people would not want to "mess it up", as it were, by reversing the racism that has been leveled at them for so long.

In fact, having a black person as president would be a sign that our society is caring less and less about those issues as a whole. I certainly hope this is true.

blah blah blah.

I'm sure most people just want a president who won't F*** up.

Current one managed to put your country in severe debt although he did have to deal with 9/11 and Katrina. He seemed to have dropped the ball on the latter one by many accounts. I think he handled 9/11 well but im not convinced his rush to invade was correct.

Obama will have to convince people he's the best for the job. At the moment, he's got as good a shot as any. (He does not come cross as a Buchanan or an Al Sharpton or Jessie Jackon or Ralph Nader fringe candidate)

P.S. If I were american, I have voted for Colin Powel in a heartbeat!!! Of course some may question his "blackness" but point is he is one of the most qualified non-candidates ever. I'm sure there are others but I'm not aware of them. He'd have been a great president.

Are you saying that if a Black person became president he and other people of color would act negatively toward Whites, because of Whites past behavior toward Blacks? A Black has not been voted president yet and Blacks have negative feelings toward Whites. So what would be new?

First, I don't agree with you when you say "if a black person is given the presidency". If a black person becomes president it will be earned through the respect that they have gained through their work. But NO, I have no fear of attitude ot neglect from people of color or us people of noncolor.

Well there is so much racism towards whites already!!!
Look at s. africa when it became ran by all blacks, the control is out of control and white people are being racially murdered every day!!

Look at gary Indiana white people can't be in most of the areas at certain times or risked being killed etc

Look at new orleans now "the chocolate city" it is very racist towards whites

Now detroit look at the crime and racially commited crime rate..its crazy

So what do you think would happen with a black president?

Please to racist posts against this!!

I have no fear of color. I am not prejudice. I would vote for Rice in a heartbeat. She is so intelligent. I just won't vote for Barak Hussein Obama, nor will I vote for Hillary Clinton.
