I know exactly what you mean Kevin. But there are still thousands of beautiful buildings in London that have escaped the planners and builders. There is a book called "Hidden London" sorry can't remember who the author is but it tells you where all the old and fascinating buildings are hidden away. I suppose the London planners think that the monstrosities they are building everywhere will be called the gems of the future.

It seens a lot of people reading this question dont know the City of London is just the area known as the Square mile as opposed to the Metropolitan area(Ken Livingstons kingdom).I agree that it is terrible that one of the most historic and attractive places in the world is being defaced with modern monstrosities which will never blend in

KEN congestion charge LIVINGSTONE
used to be against all the modern
soulless big business buildings
but he doesn't have much to say
about them now
seeing as his office looks
like a big round dog turd
plonked on waste ground!
near great architecture such as T.bridge
And facing The Tower o London
which incidentally
is where he should of been sent to a long time ago.

I agree- they are ruining it- and the congestion charge cameras on poles are also unsightly. Apparently Kensington and Chelsea council have already deemed some of the new poles to have been put up unlawfully without the proper planning permission. With our current Mayor expect London to get even worse...do they ever ask for planning permission for any of these new monstrosities?

That's a shame. I guess they're trying a make it look all modern and futuristic, but forgetting that the older buildings are important to. I guess it's happening a bit in my town except flats are popping up every where.

Its called globalisation.....its bound to happen so why not now............."Who cares. Its got to change and have bigger newer buildings to accommodate all the new people from Africa, India, Pakistan and the Eastern countries. If you don't like it go to New Zealand. Its quiet over there"........racist, caring or futuristic.....i can't decide what category your comment should go in............
