I don't have any problem with Barack Obama. Whether he's ready to get my party's nomination and lead is another story. However, considering that his last name has just one letters difference between it and that scum Osama, it could be a problem in him getting votes. What do you think ? How much of an impact do you think it will have in his bid to become President ?

Yeah, the middle name Hussien doesn't help either.

Oh yeah, and his first name might rhyme with Iraq, depending on how you pronounce them.

It's a problem for some, but I'm wondering just how many real people who actually vote are that ignorant. I'm not trying to be dismissive, it just seems that those people who first pounced on his middle name and now insist he's a Muslim, contrary to all evidence, just can't be that numerous in an educated country. I know they're out there, we see them here on YA - but forums like this attract quite a few troll like creatures who aren't the brightest bulbs in the box. The Democratic Party is going to have to look at it - is it a triple threat? His ethnic background, his name, his not becoming a Christian (though he was not a Muslim previously in any case) until adulthood. I suppose they actually have to gauge the fear, prejudice and unbelievable ignorance that actually makes this an issue to begin with. I still hope to see Obama as Hillary's running mate. I really think that ticket would be almost unbeatable.

Those cannot distinguish the difference between the b and the s, well they are BS and should not be allowed to vote anyway. Only the immature and fear mongers will not vote based on that reason. Southern drawls, noses big enough to hide a bag of nickels and being physically impaired have not stopped people for voting for presidents, so lets all hope America does not sink to an all time low.

sure, Obama's mom named him that on purpose. She became into clairvoyant and knew that for the duration of the previous due ninety's, early 21st century, u.s. may be threatened via a guy named Osama. BTW, why is McCain named after the 1st murderer in the Bible? twist of fate? Makes you think of.

The unfortunate thing about Barack Obama is that he has nothing to say. He speaks in generalities, with no position at all. This is easy to do when your on the outside looking in. What is his position on anything? He's against poverty, whose pro poverty? He wants more for education, who wants illiteracy? Barack Obama is the candidate that makes you feel good about yourself. At the end of the day however, nothing gets done.

Hussein is a popular name is northern Africa (the Middle East is part of Africa), even outside of the Middle East. Obama is an African name.
Yeah, he happens to share part of a name with an executed foreign dictator, and has last name is similar to spelling to bin Laden, but so what? We don't pick our names. I'm sure that many of us have names that are somewhat close to names that we don't like. I think people need to get over it.

It is unfortunate. However, I like to think of this as a national litmus test for how mature we really are. I'm not saying that only people who vote for Barack Obama are mature, of course! But those who point to his name as a reason NOT to vote for him? That's a pretty huge sign of immaturity. There will be some of those. But how many?

Yea, you think he has bad luck in a last name? Take a whiff of mine ladies and gents: (ahem) Lewinski. Yea, of the Monica fame, though hers ends in "y", and mine ends in "i", but they are pronounced exactly the same.
Gee, if I ran for president, I wonder how many nanoseconds it would take for stupid questions on my last name to spring up?

Whats in a name?......Though in a tight race it could be disastrous or on the other hand it could an ultimate "F.U." to Al-Quaeda.
Though if you think about it, it's not a too far a stretch if you put a 3' beard on Obama and a white robe and sandals.
Maybe he is the anti-Christ LOL
Cherri Bi puts it best.

Unfortunately, that will be somthing that the ignorant people will focus on to form hatred, as if his name is something you should judge him on. I like his theme of "Hope" that he announced on Friday.
