A mole is not the same as a molecule. A molecule is ONE unit of a substance say:

AX (it's not important what A or X are just that this is a chemical compound like water, or salt)

A mole is a large number of molecules.

It is defined by Avagados number which is 6.023 * 10 ^23 molecules/mole.

So you see there are a lot of molecules is 1 mole of a substance!

A mole is like a dozen, but is much, much larger. A dozen always contains 12 items. A mole always contains 6.022 x 10^23 items.

For anything that is large enough to see, a mole would be a ridiculously large amount. A mole of sand grains would supposedly cover the state of Texas 50 feet deep! But because molecules are so incredibly small, a mole of molecules is a very reasonable amount to work with.

The number 6.02 x 10^23 (called Avogadro's number) is the amount of atoms that make an element's (or compound's) atomic mass in amu equal to its molar mass in g. So 1 carbon atom has an average mass of 12.011 amu; 1 mole of carbon atoms has a mass of 12.011 g.

the difference between a mole and a molecule is that a mole is most often a harmless or benign (not cancerous) skin growth, but if you have moles, you'll need to keep an eye on them. That's because a mole can turn into a malignant melanoma. In fact, about 50 percent of all melanomas begin in moles, whilst a molecule is element atoms bonded together ranging from two element atoms to who knows how many atoms

A mole is not the same thing as a molecule. A mole of molecules (or anything else) is 6.02 x 10^23 molecules ( or that anything).

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

a "mole" is a measure of the number of quantities...like a million ,a billion, a trillion etc

1 mole of a particular susbtance contains 6.023X10^(23) molecules of that susbstance!!!!!!

1mole is the no of molecules in 1gmm of the substance!..
1gmm=one gram molecular mass
for example for oxygen molecules (02)..... it has 2 oxygen atoms..
therefore its gmm=2*18=32g
(18 is the molecular mass of one oxygen atom)

there fore u will find 1mole(6.623*10^<23>) of oxygen molecules in 32 grams of oxygen

if interested u can check out any physical chemistry book!

A mole is the number 6.23 X 10^23. This man of an element equals the weight of the atomic mass in grams.
