I am trying to find a good term to explain a paradigm shift, and I am wondering how "the child awakens", "the children awake", or simply to "wake up" would be translated to English from Latin. Thanks for any help!!!

Puer expergiscitur = The child awakens

Pueri expergiscuntur = The children awaken

Expergiscere! = Wake up! (when 1 person is being addressed)
Expergiscimini! = Wake up! (when more than 1 person are being addressed)

Expergiscor can be used both for literal awakening from sleep and figuratively ("the nobility having awoke restored the constitution" = "nobilitas experrecta ..."; "Expergiscere, homo!" - "Wake up, O Man!")

Puer is a general term for child. Infans (sg) infantes (pl) may also be used, in classical Latin meaning very young children (not yet able to speak), but in later Latin also used for young children generally.
