Because your hormones are changing and you may also have low iron from bleeding which causes anemia. Maybe talk to your doctor and get some blood work done and you may need a vitamin or something.

You could be anemic. When some people lose a lot of blood, such as during menstruation, they don't have enough red blood cells present in their body to have enough iron present. (RBCs carry iron.) When the amount of iron in your body gets too low, you can feel drowsy and lethargic (you don't have any energy). This is called anemia. You should call your doctor and ask for a blood test. He'll probably put you on iron pills. You could also try taking an iron supplement a few days before you start your period and keep taking it until a few days after, or just every day if you want to.

We all need a little extra sleep during our periods.

You may be suffering from an iron deficiency.

Ask your doctor.

It is most likely because you are losing too much iron, or you are iron deficient to start with. See your doctor and have your iron and vitamin B levels checked.
