My character's name is Dralco. He comes from a family that has sympathy for the poor people on their land. They are merciful and kind.

Dralco on the other hand does not see a point to all of this kindness since the poor will always need something. So to him, their "wish list" will always be endless. He does think that he is better than them because the poor are often refered to as the "helpless" and he sees them as weak.
He sees himself as strong. He is a sadist and a murderer.

So he can change into animals but I want the animal that he changes the most into to be symbolic of his personalitiy. I just can't think of one.

Well you can choose any animal to fit this character. It would be strictly fiction though. Which is ok, but it is almost actually impossible to pinpoint a real species by their real traits or characteristics. The cool obvious answer to satisfy most would be a large cat(panther, tiger, lion, etc) or polar bear etc. In truth these predators live and survive on their own. Lions do have prides though. These prides would not show kindness or feel sympathy towards any other lions though. They normally kill or shun any outsiders when they rarely come in contact. The only types of animals that would adopt(show sympathy towards the poor) or take in newcomers of their species would be like a cow, antelope, yak, otter, buffalo, etc. Now comes the hard part of making a peaceful species into a mean sadist murderer. It would just be hard to find a real species that symbolizes this. Just for strictly fictional purposes, I would suggest a mean rougue prairie dog!

The black panther. I once went to the denver zoo and through plate glass i stared into the black panthers eyes. Cold chills of fear went through my body. It is a cold bloodied killer for the pleasure of killing. Every animal has a human characteristic, the polar bear sees evey thing as food. Dogs are loyal, cats are independent and intuitive. Many blessing on the success of your story.

A snake... like a Cobra.
A Hyena, they're particularly nasty.
A wolf is always a good choice.
Crocs and Gators can be evil.
So can a big ol' nasty *** rat.
Sewer rats can get bigger than cats.
I hate rats.

Sorry, too. I totally agree with Zentoccino. Your character makes me think of some (past/ present) politicians, not animals.

There is only one animal that fits. A big cat. Cats are sadistic. They will amuse themselves with a creature before they kill it.
