Wellll, in the books, which were far better, the name of the dog was Jack... Jack the brindle bull terrier, I think. In the show, it was a sheepdogg-ish looking dog, and I think his name was Jack, too. If not, shame! Shame on them! I used to watch the show back in the 70's when it was first on.

Jack was the first dog and Bandit was the second. In the books it was always Jack. He was a bulldog.
