Wow ! Talk about a flashback ! My sister and I both had a set of those. We called them "clackers". Mine were a blue color, with a
metallic-looking flake inside them.

I'm not quite 40, but remember them. We called them "Click Clacks." They still make a version of them, but you won't believe it - the clackers are attached to stiff plastic and rotate on another stiff plastic rod, so all you have to do is sort of wave it around and they clack together. At least they have added a little bit of fun to them - my daughter's toy lights up with some kind of a snazzy red strobe light when it clacks. :)

I'm not 40+ years old, but I know what you're talking about. It's called a clacker. A science teacher showed us one to demonstrate the basics of Newtons three laws. Here's a pic:

I don't know what they were called; but it's a shame so many dorky kids had to get hurt because it was fun to see who was the best at it.

We called them Kabonkers here in Wisconsin. I never had them, but I think more than once they were used as a weapon, bolo style. LOL...

Here's to the toys of our youth.

We used to call them click clacks I think.

You are right about one thing. You could kill somebody with those things.
