They are about the size of a fruit-fly, only slightly larger and are dark black.

They tend to mostly fly around in the bathroom, but will go near the dishdrainer or the plant pots as well. I think they like the dampness.

Anyways, they are very annoying and I would like to know what they are and how to get rid of them.

Thanks!

I am not sure what they are, but if you put about and inch of cider vingegar in a narrow glass; cover the top with saran wrap; poke a small hole in it - they will go in there and drown.
I had these and had to get rid of my plants.
Put baking soda, about half a cup, down your sink drains; add half a cup of vinegar; then pour boiling water down from a kettle...
worth a try

I have gotten these in the past. Once these guys lay eggs they just keep coming back. They best and quickest way to get rid of them is to dilute pinesol original with water and spray down all your plants. Wipe down your leaves on both front and back. This will not only smell great but help clean the pores of your plants.

Try mixing a drop of dish soap in a spray bottle with water a very weak soap solution. Use this and spray your plants and the area around them, this will kill these bugs but will not harm the plants.

Hi sweet _lea!!

The will fly around where humidity exist. So try Not to leave anything around your garden full of water, specially after it rains!

Yes, the could be very annoying and they even bite! Check also the gutters of the house for any water pools.

Fungus gnats. Let your houseplants dry out, and set up those yellow sticky traps (ask at the garden centre). Try not to let your plants stay wet for too long.
