all the others have said...'nuclear force':whats this?...fundamental force:why is it so called...there must be a rationale to all this..there is!

this is the consequence of force at a distance.....

there are forces which act due to the mass of an object...the closer they are the more they will attract...
it is so specially at SUCH a small distance as will be only between two particles in a nucleus...so thats what all the above people have said 'nucleur force'...this is the rational behind it..

.it is called a fundamental force along with some others coz it is always present but it comes in real realisable amount ONLY at such a close distance as may be between two particles in a nucleus....this is the reason the nucleus is together

it is so high that it keeps the repulsing protons together..needless to say the protons and neutrons as well...thats what binds a nucleus....

however it muct not be confused with acting on electrons....even for that the distance becomes so much that the force becomes non-distinguishable

and i must say:good question..keep up the logic and everything is gonna go all right!

Well i suppose you are an elementary but good question,
You see there is something in the world called the strong nuclear force yes it operates in the atoms nuclei the prtons the neutrons are together in the nucleus b'coz of this force the proton is positively charged and the eutron is negetively charged the strong force acts in letween the protons and the neutron which is transfered by the photons (not actually light particles they are named so) the photons operate a more stronger force between the protons and the neutron called the strong force this force holds them together.

there is repulsion between two same charged particle, but in an atom the protons are living together, they do have neutrons and they are influenced by the attractive force of the electrons with them and the electrons in the outer shell which does not have enough protons are in a more active state, hence all this nullifies/ reduces the repulsive force.

in addition to the answers given, this is the energy that gives the big boom in nuclear reactions. It takes a lot of energy to hold those protons together. Th eneutrons play a role in holding the protons together as well. There are stability ratios, which generally range at about 50/50 %, until you get to the very large atoms. If an atom doesn't have a stable mix of protons and neutrons, the atom will radioactively decay.

This is due to the nuclear force, which is stronger than the coulomb repulsion force. And this force is independent of the charge of the particles.

But this is a short range force. The radius of this force is in fermi range(10 to the power(-15) meter).

There are four fundamental forces in nature - Gravitational, Electromagnetic, Weak force and Strong Force.
They are repulsed due to the EM force which we are familiar with but they are held together by the strong force which is present only in the nucleus. its interaction distance is very small compared to other forces.

there is a force called strong force around the nucleus (it is spin dependent, charge independent)
it holds the atom together. it is also referred to as nuclear force, and its the most powerful force we know of today

i'm not ENTIRELY sure what the question is you're asking, but it sounds like you want to know how + charged protons don't push each other apart? There is binding energy that actually holds them together and overpowers the desire to repel.

not purely the mattress, the closet too. ;-; If I dropped one among my crammed animals off of the mattress at the same time as i grow to be attempting to sleep, and the room grow to be darkish, i ought to enable it stay there because i presumed something ought to snatch my arm from less than the mattress as i tried to p.c.. it up. :3 i don't have self assurance that stuff anymore regardless of the reality that. I nonetheless get spooked via the closet if I watch an extremely scary horror action picture regardless of the reality that. >->
