Your sex life and digestive tract issues are probably not the best topics to bring up with total strangers either.
Oh, wait... you meant CONTROVERSIAL topics. Sorry. Pretty much politics and religion are the two worst in that area... I consider the abortion topic to go along with religion since opposition to abortion is usually based on religious beliefs.

First of all, you shouldn't talk to strangers, unless a friend introduced you to one. If you do meet a stranger, just say Hello and leave.

i do not talk about politics or religion to people that i do not wish to offend. however i really do not care what a stranger thinks about me. so i will talk politics and religion with them.
my mother on the other hand i will not talk politics or religion with.
