I was wondering if anyone could guide me into the right direction. I have been "wet" all day it seems like. I have changed my underwear 3 times cause I dont have a way to the store to get pads. Could I be leaking amniotic fluid? It smelled like sweet amonia this morning and now it doesnt have to much of a smell to it. When I set down after standing up if feels like "bubbles" coming out and then I start to feel really uncomfortable down there because it is wet. I am 38 weeks pregnant and plan on going to have it checked out if necessary but cant do so until my husband gets home in 4 hours. So does anyone think it could be amniotic fluid or something else?

I went in but they never tested it and said it could be a slow leak and to rest until contraction starts but it could be a while. How soon should I be going into labor and is there anything safe that I can try to hurry it along just a little?

You should be ok until your husband gets home but you DO need to go to the hospital when he gets there. Sounds like you sprung a leak but THAT IS OK. If it's time then it's time. You don't have pads so use toilet paper so you get wet. If you start getting contractions keep track of them and if they are too close together then call an ambulance if he is not home yet. Stay off your feet and get as comfortable as you possibly can. Don't worry unless you have to.

It could be leaking amniotic fluid, yes. I experienced this at 32 weeks. A tear in the amniotic sac (also called the bag of waters or BOW) caused me to leak fluid for 6 weeks, I then developed an infection, and delivered a healthy baby girl via C-Section. She was 2 weeks early, but weighed 7 pounds. The C-Section was scheduled once the infection was found....I did not have labor.
You should see you OB/GYN due to the risk of infection, there are some precautions he/she will probably have you begin.
Good luck, my dear. And don't worry..........everything will be fine.

Also, just because you leaking doesnt mean you will be "dry"
labor, your body constantly manufactures that amniotic fluid.
Call your DR immediatley, she will ask you your symptoms etc, adn then make a decision from there! congrats!
You may notice a slight tinge of pink mixed with the fluid soon, you will be on your way to labor!
Take it easy==

38 weeks is close enough...go to the hospital. You should be fine to wait until your husband gets home. Just make sure you can still feel the baby moving, and do not get in the tub. I don't care how dirty your feel. you could cause bacteria to get in there and you do not want that. If you plan on having your child naturally (without medication) you should go in soon. A dry birth is very painful. But if your not worried about it, then wait for the hubby. That baby should be coming soon. Congrats!!

best advice go to the dr, they have a way to test right there on the spot to check for amino fluid. if you start having contractions or your water actually comes pouring out of you go to labor and delivery. by the way i have 2 friends that had the same thing you are explaining. one of them was leaking amino fluid, the other was a mystery..good luck. also you dont need us to answer your questions. trust your gut feeling

Yes, yes and yes. This is exactly what amniotic fluid smells like and feels like when you have a slower leak. Go in.

It is possible to "leak" amniotic fluid. If you are concerned I would call your doctor or go to the hosptal and let them check you out.

You have most likely broken your water. That is was happened to me, the sac just broke in a small spot and was slowly leaking out.

The best thing to do would be calling your OB..they usually have a doctor for after hours taking calls.

Well if it smells like ammonia then that would be pee but if it is clear and odorless than I would think that could be your water leaking.
