Because it's not a fall color. I say wear what you want though. Labor day signifies the beginning of fall coming though.

I never understood that fashion fopah and I believe it is rather ridiculous. I did read in a fashion magazine this year that white is no longer considered unfashionable after Labor day. The same magazine reported that certain designers were purposely going to create white clothing and accessories to wear in the fall and winter. Bottom line, who cares? Wear what you want, unless prohibited by law.

That's an old fashion rule. But things are different now. You can definitely wear white after labor day. Tell your friends that they're wrong.

White clothing reflects sunlight and therefore you are a little cooler wearing it. Dark colors absorb sunlight and keeps you a bit warmer. Therefore white is considered a summer color and the summer season ends on labor day weekend.

Because your friends have no lives of their own and enjoy minding other people's business. Ignore them. People say that light colors should only be worn in the Spring or Summer, but that is an outdated fashion "rule".
