Wow sounds like a interesting book and I cant wait to read it. As far as being scared it is typical. I love to write non fiction and I have to sit back sometimes because it seems all to real. after writing for a little while put some dancing music on and go crazy for a few minutes. It helps me.

yes and its called letting your imagination run away with you. i'd almost bet when you are alone you turn on every light in the house. relax, this is common for young people staying home alone. I was probably 14 or 15 before I got to stay home alone.
kidnapping huh? pretty serious topic for a 12 year old. oh one more thing-I suppose it all depends on where you live. I mean someone in a large city will see staying alone differently from someone living in a rural area. Just dont answer the phone and if you have an answering machine dont have a recording that indicates no one is home, just say you cant come to the phone right now. and keep your windows and doors locked. dont answer the door unless you know the visitor. Pretty basic common sense stuff. It probably is your imagination but no harm in being cautious and safe --right.

Your mind is so wrapped up in the story that it is playing in your head even when you are not working on it, when you are home alone it is natural to be scared sometimes- hell I am 48 years old and even I get scared sometimes-lol! I'm serious though I do!! When your alone at home turn on some music that you like, not really loud but loud enuf to keep your mind on the music and not the fact that you are alone or call a friend up and see if they can come over, keep busy and before you know it your folks will be home!!

It is your imagination that is going wild with you. Beleive it or not, this happens with a lot of writers young and old. Keep writing your story and finish it off with a good ending and you will be able to bring closure to your uneasy mind.
I say this because I write poetry. When I write about sad things I can be depressed for days on end until I write about something happy, wherther I feel like it or not. I used to think this was weird when someone would tell me their on experiances until it happened to me. Writers have a way of really getting into their work.
I think it is great that you want to be a writer at this age. Don't stop writing, because obviously the book is pretty good if it has you a bit scarred.

Most likely your story is making you paranoid. Just keep your doors locked. Movies and stories have a way of making people suspect or fear things. I read a book while I was pregnant with my son about a newborn being kidnapped while his American parents were working in Mexico, and my husband had been offered a job down there and I made him turn it down because that story scared me so bad.

It sounds like it if you have become afraid to stay at home-remember it is only a story that you are writing.

Maybe its not the story that is affecting you. Maybe there is something in the back of your mind that is bothering you, which is why it came out in the story. Its normal to have different fears. Dont worry, I think you'll be ok!

Sounds like it definitely is effecting you. Perhaps make your main character real brave and able to fend off his attackers, that may help you with your fears.

I think that your story may have brought out a hidden fear? It's probably just in your head, but talk with your parents about it if it's bugging you a lot.
