As part of, or as a lead up to, the "final solution" to Jews, Hitler demanded that all Jewish people in occupied Denmark wear an arm-band decorated with a Star of David. In rebellion against the Nazis and in support of the Jews, Christian X, the Danish King, encouraged all the Danes to wear the armband and did so himself declaring "I am my country's first Jew!"

I'm not sure if this is true, but it's a commonly told story in and is alluded to on the Wikipedia page for Christian X (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_X_of_Denmark) under "Anecdotes & Trivia".

Well, he didn't get away with much...

The British turned in Schlesvig-Holstein to the Germans and denied them their right to self-determination. Schlesvig-Holstein is at least partly Danish and should be administrated jointly by Germans and Danes or else, allowed independence with citizenship in Denmark is desired.

After the Second World War, the Prussian province Schleswig-Holstein came under British occupation. On August 23, 1946, the Military Government abolished the province and reconstituted it as a separate Land [1]

The Kiel Canal crosses Schleswig-Holstein and allows German shipping to cross from the Baltic to the North Sea without leaving German territory, which gave it a vital role in German commerce and war efforts during the 20th century. Its main purpose, however, was to save the 280 nautical miles (about 520 km) needed to sail around the Jutland peninsula.

The Danes refused to comply with Hitler's final solution. The Danish foreign minister told Hitler that "there was no Jewish question in Denmark". Most Danish Jews were successfully and heroically protected from the holocaust.

Hitler demanded crateloads of synthetic drugs, and thousands of hookers,he also demanded that the danes all grow moustaches just like him,or else he was going to go home. The Danes just laughed and got on with cutting down trees and teaching wolves how to behave themselves properly. I hope this helps
