A food chain shows one possible path of energy through the ecosystem, starting with a producer (autotroph) and continuing through whatever series of organisms feed on each other.

A food web shows all the possible feeding relationships in an ecosystem.

Sometimes they say that a food web is "all the interconnected food chains."

A food chain shows energy transfer through organisms. A food chain shows only specific organisms eat other specific organisms. Lets say you have a human. He eats a cow. A cow eats grass. Thats a food chain. But humans eat other things than cows. So a food web shows possibilities of what the organisms eat and get energy from, and a food chain only shows what energy organisms get from other specific organisms. A food web shows energy transfer in an ecosystem basically. A food web also has levels associated with food chains. (primary, secondary, tertiary, etc...) So basically your answer is: They both show energy transfer in organisms. (lol long answer cuz I didn't fully read the question and was listing the differences and not the similarities.)

Let's make your answer simple but sensible... The relationship between food chain and foodweb is that... A food web is a series of 2 or more food chains... it means that a food web is constructed by 2 or more foodchains together...
