I was told I was emo once by a kid at my youth group (at church) probably because I don't feel accepted as part of the group making me shy.
and the same kid who called me emo is also called emo, but in a difference sense of the word, according to my sister there are several different types of emo and the kid who called me emo probably meant emotional and himself the mosh pit part of emo.
it's all pretty lame and hard to understand, I just want to know how it will effect the future generation.

Its just a term that teenagers use to describe kids who wear black and listen to a type of music. Most of the time kids mistake the person who is being EMO as a drug addict or a cutter when they are actually shy.

well, it's a dumb *ss stereotype, but it just means overly emotional. it's really controversial (in high schools, anyway) and i think that most people are emo at some point. it's like calling someone a prep, or a nerd, most people don't like to be classed as that, but it's what their social appearance is seen as.
