Disadvantage - Red blood cells don't have a long life span and have to be replaced on a continuous basis.

Advantage - Without a nucleus, there is more room for hemoglobin. The red blood cell is made to transport oxygen. More room for more hemoglobin is important for efficiency - better oxygen-carrying capacity.

Of interest in this same matter -- the red blood cell doesn't have mitochondria either, giving two distinct advantages. Numerous mitochondria would take up a lot of room at the expense of room for hemoglobin (just like the nucleus issue), and mitochondria would carry on aerobic respiration and use up the very same oxygen that the red blood cells are supposed to be delivering to the body cells. The red blood cells mostly use glycolysis for energy.

Advantage. You do not have to waste room on a nucleus and can have all that room for the hemoglobin protein.

Advantages: 1.It has less volume so it can travel easily. 2.It cannot use the oxygen it is transporting as it does not have a nucleus. Hence it is able to transport all of the oxygen it absorbs.

well the advantage is that to have enough space for hemoglobin. The disadvantage is that rbc don't last for long time(short life span)
