The tan(x) = sin(x) / cos(x), so tan(0) = 0/1 = 0.

Or if you think of the tangent for an angle in right triangle to be the opposite side over the adjacent side, notice that as the angle shrinks and starts to approach zero, the opposite side is going to grow shrink too and its length will start to approach zero, as the adjacent side gets closer and closer to the hypotenuse. So this ratio of the opposite side to the adjacent side (which is the tangent of the angle) should approach zero too.

The tangent of 0 is like any other tangent; it is the opposite side over the adjacent side, or y/x. When the angle is 0 then y = 0 and the tangent of 0 =
0/x which is 0.
