You bet it's safe. Although...it is known to put a woman into labor. Not always but I have it on good knowledge that it starts contractions. (at least in my labors) My labors were both brought on by having sex. Between semen and orgasm it can certainly put things moving in the right direction
So if you are ready to have your baby, enjoy having sex now because after the baby is born...the sex HIATUS of 6 weeks will happen.
If you read the link below and go to almost the bottom it talks about sex at 40 weeks!!

Yes, as long as your water has not broke. My midwife actually recommended it to maybe help start labor. Semen has the same hormone in it that they use to induce you with at the hospital. So if you want the baby to come soon, I would say go have lots of fun!

unless your doctor has told you not to its fine for soft slow loving the activity may even cause you to go into labor. rember after having the baby it will be about 6 weeks. i was and meds to stop labor for a month and to doc gave me the go ahead you can call and askthe doc if you want to .
