A yellow sock found it's way into the wash when I was washing a shirt and now the shirt is an off-white color.

Would soaking it in bleach (or something else) overnight make it white again?

It would work if the shirt is all cotton; if there are synthetics it may make it more yellow.

Try getting Rit Color Remover or white Rit dye and use that if it synthetic.

This works great for keeping white uniforms sparkling.

Bleach should help BUT I would not soak it overnight. Bleach weakens the threads in the material and it could greatly decrease the longevity of the shirt. The new Ultimate Care bleach by Clorox is great and on the mild side with a nice smell. Also don't dry the shirt, if you haven't already, until after you bleach it.

If you don't want to use bleach, use very hot water and lemon juice or lemon slices. The lemons should help to whiten the shirt. Be careful with the bleach. If you soak the shirt overnight, you may not have a shirt in the morning!

Yes, if it's made out of fabric that won't be ruined by bleach then you could soak it in bleach and VERY hot water. Or if that doesn't quite work you can put it in a pot with bleach water and boil it for a few minutes. Hope that works!

it might not work fully instead it'll get a bit whiter than before and do remember too much bleach can sometimes deteriorates the shirt material!

I would try Rit Color Remover. It is pretty good.
