Can you get one in a different county? when someone ships can you put a different name on the shipping information, and still have it accepted?

you pay a fee to the post office whever you want to have a po box. if you ship, nobody checks id at the post office. they may at such places as fed ex or ups, but i can't say for sure. mostly, they don't care uinless it is insured, then if a claim is made it pays the one whose name is used to ship.

There are really a couple of types of P. O. Boxes. At the USPS mailing station, when you apply, you have to have photo I.D. for idenification which they verify your address on it. With USPS, you can get one in another county and even another state as long as you apply in person with the proper ID. You can receive a letter or parcel made out to c/o (care of you) . For just direct to another person only, that would mean their name would have to be registered also. Some stores also have boxes you can rent with their rules based on postal regulations.
