I've had (and still have) clinical depression, which has given me suicidal thoughts. When someone has stated that they've acted on these impulses, take them seriously. Just b/c the tylenol didh't work, it doesn't mean the next thing they try won't work. Please get them help immeditately, even if they say they are better. The fact that they tried is enough of an indication that they need professional help. Please seak psychological/medical assistance for your friend. It could save his/her life.
Some people try suicide for attention, but that is a mistake. You still can die. Please, take this reach out seriously. Get this person help right now.

He's asking for help if he told you, probably afraid to tell his mom. Try this phone number for best information.

You prob can not count on him telling his mom. You need to tell his mom. I know you do not want to break his trust, but his life could be on the line. Tell him that you care about him and want to help him in any way you can,

Can you drive over to his place and make sure that he doesn't try it again? Maybe stay with him and keep an eye on him for a few days.
